About Michelle

Michelle is an experienced safeguarding trainer based in Manchester. She has professional qualifications in Youth and Community Work and in Adult Learning. Her professional roots are in teaching/empowering children and young people using activities to build skills, confidence and positive relationships. Since 1985 she has written courses to train trainers/teachers in adult learning theory, group dynamics, assertiveness skills and inclusive practice. Through the 1990’s she developed courses for teenagers and multi-agency groups around Domestic Abuse, Teen Relationships, Power and Control Issues and Child Protection in Education. From 2000 to August 2015 Michelle was Bury Local Safeguarding Children Board’s multi agency training coordinator, writing, delivering and evaluating many courses on a range of topics alongside practitioners. During this period, Michelle managed the work of the multi-agency training pool; encouraging and developing new trainers to their full potential and supporting more experienced trainers to extend their skills.
